The short version

You fill the form in, Mark rings you back about lessons. Your details are not sold, not used for marketing, and not shared with anybody who is not teaching you. There are no cookies and no tracking on this site at all.

Who is responsible for your information

MSM Driving Academy decides how your information is used. The website and the enquiry form are built and run for MSM Driving Academy by Topline Studio, who look after the technical side on their behalf.

What you give us when you enquire

Only the enquiry form collects anything. It asks for your name and mobile number, and then a set of optional questions that save a phone call: your email address, the postcode and street you would like to be picked up from, whether you want manual or automatic, roughly what stage you are at, how long you have been learning, whether you have passed your theory test, whether you have a test booked and when, when you are generally free, whether you would prefer a female instructor, and anything else you want to add.

Only your name and mobile number are required. Every other field can be left blank and the form will still send.

What is recorded automatically

When the form is submitted, the time, your computer's IP address and your browser's identifying string are recorded alongside your answers. That is there to stop the form being abused by automated spam, and so a lost enquiry can be traced rather than silently disappearing.

Nothing is recorded automatically if you simply read the site and do not send an enquiry.

What we use it for

To reply to you and arrange your lessons. That is the only reason it is collected.

It is not used for marketing, it is never sold, and it is not passed to anyone else except as described below.

Who can see it

Mark Blackburn and the instructor who would be teaching you. Topline Studio can see enquiries because they run the system that receives them.

Your enquiry is sent by email and stored on the server that runs this website. Nobody else has access to it.

How long it is kept

If your enquiry does not turn into lessons, it is deleted within 12 months.

If you become a pupil, your details are kept for as long as you are learning and then for six years, which is the normal period a small business keeps its records for tax purposes.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not track you. There is no Google Analytics and no advertising pixel. That is why there is no cookie banner — there is nothing to ask you about.

The one thing we do count is how many times each page is opened, so we know which pages are useful. That counting happens on our own server. It records the hour, the page, whether you arrived from a search engine or another site, and whether you were on a phone or a computer. It does not record your IP address, and it stores nothing that could link two visits to the same person — so it cannot tell who you are or follow you around.

Two things are loaded from elsewhere, and both mean the company providing them can see your IP address: the page fonts come from Google Fonts, and the video on the Total Drive page is hosted by YouTube using their no-cookie player, which does not track you unless you press play.

Your rights

You can ask what information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong, or ask for it to be deleted. Ring or email using the details above and it will be dealt with.

If you are ever unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
