What lessons cost

Lessons are two hours as standard, in a manual or an automatic — the rate is the same either way. What changes the price is when the lesson runs, and that's the whole of it. If something isn't listed, ring and ask — you'll get a straight answer rather than a "depends".

Outside business hoursWeekday early mornings and evenings, by arrangement.£44/hr£88 for a 2-hour lesson
Weekends & Bank HolidaysBy arrangement, subject to availability.£48/hr£96 for a 2-hour lesson

Lessons outside normal business hours, at weekends and on Bank Holidays are possible at the rates above, by individual arrangement with the instructor and subject to availability.

Lessons are based in and around Warrington. Mark can sometimes pick up further afield as a one-off, by arrangement. There's an extra charge for the distance, worked out case by case — how far out you are and how often both change it, so it's quicker to ask than to read a table. Ring him and he'll tell you straight.

Paying and booking

  • No contract — book lessons as you go, or in a block if you'd rather.
  • Manual or automatic, same price — pick the car that suits you, not the cheaper rate.
  • Lessons are one-to-one — the full two hours are yours, no picking up other pupils.

How many lessons will I actually need?

The honest answer is that nobody can tell you before they've sat next to you. The DVSA's rough guide is around 45 hours of tuition plus private practice, but that's an average across everyone — some need fewer, plenty need more, and there's nothing wrong with either.

What you'll get from Mark is a straight steer after the first couple of lessons, and updates as you go, so you're never quietly running up hours without knowing where you stand.

Questions about cost

Do you offer a discount for booking a block?

Not at the moment. What changes the price isn't how many lessons you book, it's when the lesson runs — the weekday daytime rate is the cheapest, and evenings out of business hours, weekends and Bank Holidays cost a little more. The rates are all in the table above.

Do you do gift vouchers?

Yes, and they make a popular birthday or Christmas present for someone starting out. Ring Mark and he'll sort one out for you — there's no online checkout, it's done directly. Vouchers are valid for 12 months from purchase, extendable on request within that time.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

At least 24 hours notice is requested to cancel a pre-booked lesson. Less than that and you may be asked to pay for the late cancellation — the slot has usually gone by then. Full details are in the terms and conditions.

Where do lessons start from?

Mark will usually pick you up from home, work or college anywhere in Warrington. Just say where suits when you book.
